1 Year Fellowship Course in Infertility (For post MD, DNB candidates only.)

Objective: To train a general obstetrician/ gynecologist to function as an independent consultant in reproductive medicine by working in a state of art infertility centre, where more than 1500 ICSI procedures are performed every year while maintaining an excellent success rate without usage of donor eggs/sperms. It will be a comprehensive training program me, specifically aimed at doctors who want to pursue career in reproductive medicine either in clinical, research or teaching line. At the end of the fellowship programme, the fellow should be able to :
 1. Easily evaluate an infertile couple and reach working diagnosis within 2 visits.
 2. Start controlled ovarian stimulation for ovulation induction (including gonadotrophins) and tailoring protocols as per patient needs.
3. Identify and manage difficult cases like those with poor ovarian reserve, poor responders, prior OHSS,multiple failed IVF-ICSI,Recurrent pregnancy loss etc.
4. Do detailed pre ICSI evaluation of the patient including individualization of decision to do ICSI at the best time depending on individual patient’s characteristics.
5. Manage variety of clinical problems affecting development, function and aging of human reproductive system.
6. Perform diverse surgical procedures pertaining to reproductive medicine, including but not limited to diagnostic hystero-laparoscopy,levelI-II endoscopic procedures like adhesiolysis, endometriotic cyst removal , ovarian cystectomy, selective ovarian drilling, myomectomy etc and specific infertility procedures like intrauterine insemination,TESA,PESA, oocyte retrieval(egg pick up) etc..
7. Do independent research work that can possibly lead to paper publication in a peer reviewed journal.
8. Perform vaginal / abdominal ultra sounds scan , including Doppler scans, follicular monitoring,3D & 4D scans pertaining to reproductive medicine.
9. Participate in lectures, seminars, case presentation, journal club meetings
10. Understand technique, interpretation, benefits and limitations of various laboratory/imaging procedures pertaining to reproductive medicine.
11. Start independent infertility practice including setting up of IVF lab, for which they can get guidance from our centre.

Prerequisites:
1. MD, DNB or Diploma in OBGY.
2. Should clear interview by the fellowship committee of unit of Reproductive Medicine, Craft Hospital.

Course starting: June 2014
Course fee:Rs. 5,00, 000 per year. Stipend of Rs 15000 per month will be given. Accommodation provided free.
Last date of registration: April 30th 2014
Date of Interview: May 2014

Evaluation during course:
Apart from the evaluation of log book :
1. Assessment exam at 6 months
2. Exit exam at 12 months.
Fellowship will be provided after clearing the exit exam.
